The structure pictured above was created by Jenkins Marine for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
Located at Mudeford, near Christchurch in Dorset, this new lifeboat station required a slipway of three different gradients, to cope with the beach profile and tide range. This, combined with the restrictions of working in close proximity to residential properties and a SSSI site, presented a challenge which drew on a wide range of resources within the group. Elements of the work included:
- Tubular piling
- Pre-cast, reinforced concrete
- In-situ concrete
- Steel fabrication
- Excavation and supporting groundworks/hard landscaping
- Tidal operations
The various stages of the project are illustrated.
